it’s good to get away
away from the switched on, the 24 hour wired in access,
the whirling tickertape of superficial distractions and the drain of continuous life
away to re-discover a simple, more glacial pace, embracing the natural,
distilling needs, striping away the unnecessary,
find a place next to the earthy constants, the ancient elements that pre-date us
to sit mindful/peaceful as the sea sinks away, whilst plotting it's return
sat for time
sat as the sea sank, creeping away - plotting to return
the tide low, icy
rocks bare, exposed
the sky dark, dead
days light, leaving
can the wait continue
cold drizzle, bleak
and for a moment, the shortest of moments
light breaks cover
time waiting, hoping, searching
faith that things would be right
that the moment would come
please understand me, i’m not escaping you
it’s not you i’m running from, not something new i seek
i’m running from my frazzled, confused mind
i’m seeking out a peace, in an old world that slows/soothes/calms the waters of my mind
an seclusion that offers time and space
time to figure out what i miss
to figure out what is missing
what is important
who is important
it’s good to get away, it’s good to then return
it’s good to get away, because i’ll want to return
some people don't understand its not about escaping them
it's not them you are running from
you're leaving your frazzled confused mind behind
seeking out peace in a world that calms the mind
offers time to figure out what you miss, what is missing
what is important, and who is important
its good to get away, as much as its good to return
